If you want to get your home organized and tidy, these tips from experts can help you clear clutter from every part of your house. You’ll find suggestions for organizing spaces of all shapes and sizes, including high-traffic areas like bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens, as well as smaller areas like drawers, closets, and cabinets. There are also ideas for decluttering desks, shelves, and other spaces that tend to accumulate clutter. You can use these methods to declutter your entire home at once or take things one step at a time. Just remember: while getting rid of clutter can free up some extra space, it’s not an excuse to fill that space with more stuff.
Here we gathered the top hacks, tips, and tricks for organizing your home.
Messy wires make it hard for everyone to walk around the house. What you can do to take care of the mess the trail of wires has left behind is to tuck them away neatly under your tables and furniture.
In addition, you can also get a small wooden box or simply use a shoebox to tie up all the loose wires using small rubber bands and store them inside the box. Make sure the box is well insulated so that in case the cords get torn, the current will not affect the box. If you can’t find boxes made of insulation material, cover the inside of the box with woolen carpets before shoving all the wires and multi-plugs inside.
Hanging DIY Hidden Jewellery Organizer to Save Space
Necklaces get tangled up in drawers all the time. The wall-mounted secret jewelry holder has the solution. You just need to open the door and grab a necklace. It will not get tangled again! This project has the best part: you can make a hanging jewelry organizer from scratch with art that matches your decor and style.
You can either use scraps of frame material or a premade one. Make sure that the sides are sufficiently wide to support the frame and that there is enough space at the back for the hinges to be screwed on. To hold your jewelry, build a base box and mount it to the wall. You can hang it alone or add a few art pieces to make a wall display.
DIY Drawer Organizer
The bigger the drawer, the more organizers it will need. So, when you are going to create or buy a drawer organizer, keep this in your mind.
While shop-bought ones are made of acrylic or some sort of cotton material, if you decide to make them on your own, you can achieve that by using recycled cardboard covered in scrap fabric. While this isn’t waterproof, it will work wonders to create the most accurate compartments to store all the items in your drawers. Besides, this setting gives a colorful and fresh feel whenever you open your drawer.
Storage Under Your Bed
Old-fashioned beds used to come with their own storage under the linen. All you had to do was pull the drawer and then store all the things that you want inside. Because the storage remained warm and dry, you could store almost anything.
While newer models might not have these storage drawers under the bed, you can still store many things under your bed if the underside is hollow. You can even get DIY drawers to place under the bed for storage.
Install a long tension rod across the shower to hang the shower caddy
A tension rod and S hooks can be used to give your shower more storage. It will hold everything you need and allow air circulation between hangers. It sounds great, right?
The best thing about these tools is their versatility. These tools make cleaning much easier, as they can be used as a shower rack to hold delicate items like shampoo bottles and washcloths. This handy tool will make it easier to organize everything easily.
Limited Storage in Your Bathroom?
That is an excellent solution for a small bathroom with limited shelving. Buy two shower curtain rods at any hardware store near your home. Install one next to the other while leaving a few inches between them.
They will create more room for your needs, from toilet paper storage to stylish baskets with your bathroom stuff. It is also great to use in the laundry room.
Magnetic Spice Rack
Magnets are the answer to a lot of problems that you face in your everyday life. If you do not have any drawers or cabinets to store your spice boxes, the first thing you can do is get a magnetic board and install it on a wall in your kitchen.
In addition, you can also install various small magnets on the wall instead of the magnetic board. With this board or unit, you can attach the top lid of the spice boxes as long as they are made of metal.
A Solution for Cans
If you do not have any place to store your cans, instead of jamming your cabinets and drawers, use a soda dispenser rack. These racks do not come in use much unless you are going to store your soda or other racks. In addition, it provides the perfect room temperature to store the cans inside.
You will be able to keep all your canned goods neat and well-organized. Besides, this is a brilliant idea itself to store cans in a soda dispenser.
Use Curtains To Conceal Laundry
If you have a laundry area in a corridor or open closet, you may want to think about adding a curtain panel to conceal the washing machine and dryer from view. This can not only create a more attractive aesthetic, but it can also help to hide the entire laundry space.
While a curtain panel may not do much to help with sound attenuation, it can still be a useful addition. Another option to consider is adding a shiplap, which can give the space a farmhouse touch and add a rustic, charming vibe.
Vanity Hamper Cabinet
A vanity hamper cabinet is a type of storage furniture that is designed to hold dirty laundry and keep it out of sight. It is typically a tall, narrow cabinet that has a pull-out hamper or basket on the bottom for storing dirty clothes. Some vanity hamper cabinets also have additional storage space, such as shelves or drawers, for organizing other household items. These cabinets are often made of wood or composite material and can be a stylish and functional addition to a bathroom or bedroom.
Vanity hamper cabinets can be a great organization hack for keeping dirty laundry contained and out of sight. They can be especially helpful in small spaces, where a traditional hamper or laundry basket might take up too much room. By incorporating a vanity hamper cabinet into your bathroom or bedroom, you can keep your dirty laundry hidden away while still having easy access to it when it’s time to do a load of laundry. Additionally, the additional storage space provided by these cabinets can be used to organize other household items, such as towels, linens, or toiletries, helping to keep your space clutter-free and organized.
Over the Toilet Storage
Maximizing the use of space in a bathroom is important, and one area that is often overlooked is the area above the toilet. However, by incorporating over-the-toilet storage solutions, you can transform your bathroom into a more efficient and stylish space. From shelving units to wall cabinets, there are numerous options available that can help you utilize the space above your toilet for additional storage.
A DIY shelf above the toilet, for example, is an easy and affordable way to add extra storage and make your bathroom feel more open. So, don’t let the space above your toilet go to waste – consider incorporating one of these over-the-toilet storage ideas to make the most of your bathroom.
A Little More Storage Under the Bathtub
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to organize your bathroom, consider using the space between your tub and the wall. One option is to install hinged doors in place of the standard panel, which can be easily removed for maintenance. These doors can be used to conceal cleaning supplies and large shampoo bottles that won’t fit in a medicine cabinet.
For added durability, consider having the doors professionally coated to withstand the high humidity of a bathroom. Another option is to install wire baskets in this space. These baskets, which can be repurposed from single-tier spice racks, provide an inexpensive and convenient storage solution that fits perfectly in the width of the doors.
Curtain Closet Door
While doors are a practical solution for concealing closet clutter, they can be unappealing and take up valuable space. An alternative option is to use closet curtains, which offer a sophisticated and customizable look. Closet curtains provide an easy way to hide clutter and can be easily changed if you want to try something new.
There is a wide range of fabrics available, including bold patterns or neutral colors, allowing you to create the perfect look for your space. Rather than simply hiding your belongings, using closet curtains allows you to add a touch of style and interest to your closet.
Under-Cabinet Cutlery Storage Solution
If you’re looking to save space in your kitchen, consider using the area under your cabinets for storage. An under-cabinet drawer like this one is a great option for organizing your silverware. It mounts under your upper cabinets and functions like a regular drawer, tilting down at an angle for easy access to your spoons, forks, and knives.
This silverware drawer is perfect for organizing your flatware and cutlery, freeing up space in your regular drawers, and helping to declutter your kitchen.
Attach a small plastic laundry basket made from waterproof sticky hooks
You are fed up with the mess in your bathroom. These clever solutions can stop the chaos. Sticky hooks can be used to secure loose items and allow for airflow. For added security, you can also add water-resistant covers.
It’s a great way to organize bath toys in a stylish and organized manner without worrying about them getting damaged by water. These hooks are also effortless to take out if necessary. The waterproof hook ensures everything is well-placed and doesn’t cause any damage.
Another Solution for Cans
If the previous solution did not amuse you, this one definitely will. This organizer is a bit tougher to set up since you will need to attach two small pieces of wood together to a big one. However, the final product is worth it.
All you need to do is stock up the cans by rolling them down between the two wooden lattices that are attached to the bigger one. Of course, if you can’t build it by yourself, you can hire a professional to work for you. Do note that you will need to spend a lot of money on this since this is a pretty complicated setup.
Hang Items on the Wall
For a quick and easy solution to clearing and making more space, you could consider hanging all the possible items like foldable chairs, dusting brushes, and brooms on the wall.
Try to drill on your walls and screw pegs or hooks on the holes. If you don’t know how to drill, you could hire a professional to help you out. This won’t cost you much. After the hooks or pegs have been screwed to the wall, you can hang different items, giving you more walking space while having a more organized house.
Shoe Organizer Paper Towel Holder
A shoe organizer from the past is great to hang in a side closet or a room. It is great for holding all your rolls and paper towels.
If you hang them vertically, it will allow you more shelf space. These shoe bags can be attached to the rod using velcro. There is plenty of storage space with the bag hanging in its center.
You can set up a charging station for your kids’ devices to charge them. You can research different options to find the one that works best for you. This 8-tier wall organizer is recommended for storing your iPads, Fire tablets, and Nintendo DS systems. It also holds headphones and any other devices. It has hooks at the bottom to hold the headphones and charging cables.
This organizer is durable and will only take up a little counter space. To ensure it will withstand the abuse of multiple children, use wall anchors to replace the screws. Consider purchasing a power strip or longer lightning cables to keep things organized and ensure all devices are covered.
DIY Decorative Electrical Box Cover
Envision the thrill of securing three dynamic 5″x7″ images onto a simple frame with clear tape. The mundane is quickly becoming extraordinary! But this artistic endeavor is about more than aesthetics – it’s about utility too. The challenge arises – how do we ensure the breaker box remains accessible during emergencies? Armed with four petite hinges from Lowes, sold conveniently in pairs. Tactfully replace the provided screws with shorter ones from our stockpile, ensuring they won’t protrude through the frame. Prepare to fasten the hinges to the frame. But beware – it’s not as easy as it looks. Alignment is crucial, so make sure they are facing the right way! Mistakes?
We might have made a few, but the beauty of DIY lies in learning and overcoming. Next, hold your masterpiece up to the wall, and let the screws dig into their new home. Start with the top and bottom hinges, and voila! Your creation will hold itself up. The practical part beckons now. Does the box open to the left or right? Make sure your new cover follows suit! But watch out; the breaker’s hinge might be bulky enough to push your frame away from the wall. We have a clever solution: mini magnets. They work wonders, securing the frame perfectly against the wall. Fix them with command strips for an easy and sturdy hold. If magnets aren’t your thing, consider using Velcro strips instead. The magnets, however, provide an extra inch of depth, flawlessly compensating for the pesky breaker hinge.
Transforming a Cabinet into a Sleek, Pull-Out Trash Can
In the quest to make your kitchen feel bigger, brighter, and more enticing, you might consider a plethora of options. Yet, another less traditional way to enhance your kitchen is by creating innovative cabinet extensions. One of these ingenious designs involves crafting a tilt-out trash bin. We repurposed an antiquated upper cabinet into a more accessible lower cabinet and engineered a tilting door fortified with chains to house our trash can.
If your trash bin is exposed and intruding on your kitchen’s aesthetic, consider incorporating a custom tilt-out trash can extension into your revamped countertop setup. This not only conceals your refuse in an appealing manner but also optimizes your kitchen’s square footage, leaving you with a cleaner, more spacious cooking area.
Pots and Pans
Organizing pots and pans in an organized manner can be a hassle that almost everyone faces due to the fact that they are one of the harder items to organize. This is because most of them tend to be bulky and big.
Using large baskets and drying racks could be a solution to this problem. Separate different types of pots in terms of size and purpose. Stack smaller pots inside larger ones. This can save you a lot of space.

How to build a console table
Creating the legs for the console table began with cutting four 24-inch pieces of wood. However, it was noted that cutting a 48-inch piece of wood does not yield two precise 24-inch pieces due to the width of the saw blade, resulting in one piece that was approximately 23 7/8 inches. Despite this challenge, the team could work around it and proceed with the project. A long rail was added at the top to connect the two legs. To ensure the rail was level and at the right height, it was lined up with the 24-inch leg rather than the slightly shorter one. The Kreg Jig, a cherished tool, was used to make the other two sides of the console table and connect the two shorter boards supporting the bottom shelf.
To create the lower shelf, two 1 x 4s were laid flat across the piece to save money. However, this did not fully fill the 16-inch space, so a 1 x 12-inch board was placed on top of the newly attached 1 x 4s to create a solid shelf. The top of the console table was made using the leftover 1 x 12-inch board from building the two end pieces. The board was affixed to the top on either side, leaving a hole in the middle as desired.

To maintain all the creative materials tidy and organized, consider using separators for reels of ribbon in shelves with pull-out rails and a slide-out arrangement for wrapping sheets in sliding-out cabinets. The number of removable rails can be used depending on the number of supplies present. The separators could be color or type-coded, allowing easy access to any particular supply.
Pet Housing in Disguise
Pet gear could sometimes use a lot of house space, making them look untidy. Creating a medium-sized cabinet to fit all the pet’s needs seems a feasible solution.
Have your animal pals close by while causing their bedding, feeding dishes, or toys to obstruct your decor. A dog pad is hidden on the inside of a bottom cabinet area, and a shelf for pet food containers uses a monotone design. This approach goes well with any home decoration and is extremely easy to assemble. Moreover, the pet would not mess up the house as everything is in hand reach too!
Chic Ladder-Style Shelving
Ladder shelves look great and are great for linen storage. Ladder shelves are smaller than traditional ladders but still provide ample storage in small spaces requiring excellent organization skills.
Ladder-style shelving is the best option for those who want more storage space but feel free of the furniture. It is lighter and provides more storage space with less clutter. It can be incorporated into any bathroom design.
Creating a What-To-Do Board
We tend to forget certain grocery items we need. We misplace our laundry, grocery, or other important slips and run like headless chickens searching for them. By making a small space for storing these would be a clever organizing hack.
To store all of the shopping lists, vouchers, and recipes inside one place, apply adhesive pouches to the interior of the condiment rack. Put a pen string so you wouldn’t have to look for it when you need to scribble down anything. Important dates marked on a small calendar kept in a pouch; even appointments wouldn’t be missed this way.
Towel Hangers for the Linen Press
Linen closets give large shelves and cabinets for storing household linens. They aren’t only for the restroom. Excess tablecloths, blankets, or towels may be stored out of sight with an over-the-door hanging for easy access to fresh bed sheets and towels.
Additional racks would allow much more space for extra linens, also allowing them to dry quickly too. Extra racks allow better space in the cabinets to store delicate linens, preventing the cabinet from overstuffing. As these racks are removable, they could be folded and kept in case of its discontinuance. This is a very easy technique to use further space without massive costs.
Closet Organizers are an incredible deal
Cluttered desk storage does not aid overall efficiency, even if it is simple to imagine “out of sight and mind.” A very simple inexpensive solution such as dividers would provide better space and less fuss.
Acrylic partitions may be mixed and matched to give essential pens, pencils, and paper clips a home. The separators could be varied in size and coded according to the stationary. Further small containers could be used to store the minute essentials and kept in the cabinet. This prevents small cuts or pierces, and a drawer organized so neatly would increase the urge for its use.
Writing Notes on the Washing Machine
Laundry days are often hectic. It is possible to forego which clothes are supposed not supposed to go in the dryer. Anyone can accidentally ruin a sweater just from being forgetful. Use a dry-erase marker to write down notes on the washing machine itself.
Most washing machines have an enamel finish. Any writing from dry-erase markers will not be permanent. They can be wiped with a paper towel at any time. Write down the list of items that should not be put in the dryer. That way, whenever someone is doing the laundry, they will know which clothes are not meant for the dryer.
Lazy Susan to the Rescue
No matter how organized a fridge is, sometimes it can be annoying when a certain item is too far away. It is not possible to keep all the items nearby when a fridge is stockpiled for a month or even a week.
A Lazy Susan is often used on large tables so people can reach for dishes easier. But that is not the only thing a Lazy Susan can be used for. By placing a Lazy Susan, or a turntable on the fridge, the items in the far back can be within reach. It is an unconventional but effective way to organize the fridge.
A Lego Keychain
Who says that organizing cannot be fun? Legos are a great way to bring more color and style to the house. First, mount a Lego board by the main door. Drilling screws on the four corners of the Lego board might be the preferable way to mount it.
Then, take some Lego pieces and drill holes on one side of each piece. Each hole should be big enough to hold an eyelet screw. Once it is done, use the Lego pieces to hang keyrings onto the Lego board. It will keep the keyrings in place and bring some fun to the décor.
Attach a Shower Organizer to the Hooks of Your Shower Curtain
Attach a shower organizer to the same hooks as your shower curtain. You can make two things work by attaching a small organizer for the shower or a shoe organizer to the inner portion of your shower curtain.
This clever use of space can make bathing much more accessible. This is a great way to store your essential items in one place, making them easily accessible when needed.
When Pallet is a Lifesaver
Long-handled tools are common for any lawn or garden in the house. It is better to keep such tools neatly so no one will trip on them. Simply stacking these long-handled tools is not enough.
If there is a pallet somewhere in the house, then it will be done in time. If not, pallets are not that hard to come by. It will not take long to attach a pallet to a wall, beside a shed, or to a fence. Once the pallet is attached, all the long-handled tools can be arranged properly.
T-molding for Coffee
For coffee lovers, organizing coffee pods is a necessity. This hack is an affordable and effective way of keeping coffee pods neatly arranged. T-molding is not the most convenient way of organizing something, but it is commendable in this case.
Any store that sells wood flooring will also sell T-molding. A 4 feet T-molding will cost only around $20. First, measure the top of the coffee pods to determine how much space is required between every molding. Then cut the T-molding accordingly and drill some screw holes before fixing the T-moldings. The underside of a shelf or inside a cabinet is probably the ideal place for the T-moldings.
Sturdy Grocery Bags
Reusable grocery bags are often quite sturdy. They can be used repeatedly without any problem. Sometimes, it can be difficult to carry stuff in a reusable grocery bag if the items are too heavy. The bag might not collapse right away, but some tears will be noticeable.
It is still possible to salvage the bag and use it. Look for a piece of plywood or a rectangular piece of wood. Cut the piece to the bottom of the grocery bag and place it inside. Then place the items inside the bag. This simple hack will prevent any tears from forming on the bag.
Organizer out of Gutters
DIY projects are always fun and great for playing around with creative ideas. Instead of throwing away old tool bags or picnic bags, they can be used for storage. Spacious tool bags can lack the little compartments needed to keep all the tools on display.
Take a PVC gutter downspout to divide the inside of the bag as needed. Cut the downspout into several sections and place them vertically inside the bag. It is a good idea to attach the sections of the downspout with glue so they hold a sturdy structure. All the tools can be placed inside the gutter downspout neatly.
Multipurpose PVC Pipe
Do not throw away any extra pieces of PVC pipe after getting some bathroom or kitchen work done in the house. Unused PVC pipe can be used for organizing stuff in the bathroom.
Take a PVC pipe and cut it into different sections. The sections can be at different heights or the same height. Then use glue or a glue gun to attach the sections together. Now it is a razor or toothbrush holder. Place the holder in the bathroom. Keep razors and toothbrushes in the PVC-pipe-turned-razor-holder so there is less cluttering around the bathroom sink.
Kitchen or Bathroom?
The kitchen is not the only place where things should be stacked and arranged. The bathroom has a lot of stuff as well. Kitchen drawers are often designed with the thought of utensils in mind. The drawers are divided into sections, so different-sized spoons and spatulas can be stored.
Bathroom drawers are quite simple. So it is normal for things to get messy in the bathroom. Kitchen or silverware drawers have long compartments for storing long-handled spoons or spatulas. Those can be used for storing toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes. Other compartments will hold things such as razors, foot cream, dental floss, and more.
DIY Bag Dispenser
Supermarkets or other shops often pack items in reusable plastic bags. After some trips to the store, there will be a lot of reusable bags to manage. Look for a way to keep these bags organized so one can reach for a bag quickly.
Take all the reusable bags and make sure they are straightened out. Then take a cardboard box and cut a hole on top from where the bags can be pulled out. Place the stacked bags inside the box and close the lid. This bag dispenser is simple to make. It will save a lot of time whenever someone needs a plastic bag.
Removing Jar Labels
If you do not have any place to store all your smaller items like staples, pins, or even ingredients- small clear jars could be the solution to this problem. Just make sure the jars aren’t already labeled. If you’re using jars with labels, remove the labels.
You could count on acetone nail polish remover or stain removers to do the trick for you. All you need to do is pour a bit of the chemical on top of a wiping cloth and rub the label until it comes off. In addition, you could also hide the old label by adding new labels on top of it.
Hang plastic baskets inside the cabinet doors
Baskets are great storage options. They are beautiful, can be made in many sizes and shapes, and are strong enough to store your essential things. The perfect hiding place is also the interior of your cabinet doors.
It is also ideal for small items that don’t seem to fit in drawers or cabinets. You can hang dollar store baskets to organize feminine products, such as essential oils, razors, and razors.
DIY Flatware Tray
If you are into DIY or are frustrated with how the spoons and forks stored inside your drawer keep sliding from their places due to a weak grip, you could build your own flatware tray.
You could use some wood crafting materials and a good piece of wood to shape a tray with a satisfying grip. Of course, you could also modify the old tray to increase the gripping strength by either technical methods or laying down mats on top of the tray to increase the grip that is applied on the small forks and spoons.
Beams Under Your Desk
If you do not like storing the cords and wires inside a box, you could also build a beam on your desk and fix the wires accordingly. While this would require you to have some basic DIY skills, you could also hire a professional woodworker to help you. It might cost some money, but it will be worth it.
After the beams have been set up, you can attach all the trailing wires and plugs so that they do not give the messy, disorganized sight that they gave off previously.
Containers a Solution to All Problems
It is not an exaggeration when we say that containers can be used to store almost all items that were previously lying in your kitchen, bedroom, or bathroom.
You could use large PET containers or simple plastic ones for this purpose. Label the boxes with what you are going to store inside them, like clothes, food items, packets, travel items, or even extra items that could be needed later on. With the label on, you would know where to look for an extra nail cutter if your old one breaks or find your everyday clothing items without having to look for them in the wrong place.
Baskets for Organizing
Baskets serve the same purpose as the boxes that were mentioned above. If you have an untidy closet, you can organize the clothes for different needs using large linen baskets.
You can use the baskets to organize the clothes by the type of garment they are, the material used to make them, or even the weather when they would be needed. These baskets also come in handy if you want to store your toiletries like brushes, shampoos, etc. Packaged food and fruits can also be stored in baskets conveniently while giving them a nice look.
Having a tea obsession is common for many people. If you are also someone who is obsessed with collecting and drinking different types of teas for your different moods, you should learn to keep them organized so that you know where to look for them when you need them.
Tea drawers can be a solution to this problem. To create a tea drawer, all you need are small square cardboard dividers that can be used to create various compartments. You can place your tea packs depending on the way you want to code them to fit your aesthetic.
Pegboards are both convenient and pleasing to look at. So, if you are looking for a multi-purpose board that you can use to hang anything from small keys to face masks and clothes, pegboards could be the answer to this problem.
Just make sure not to set the board up haphazardly, or the entire set could fall off. Follow a proper system when setting the pegs to the board. Now, if you’re looking for something, you just need to take a quick look at the board.
Photo Albums for Storing Seeds
If you want to store seeds that you can use later on, photo albums could come in handy. Since the albums are made of plastic, it will make sure that you have the right temperature and conditions needed to ensure that the seed lays dormant and will neither grow nor rot while it is stored.
You could mark the albums beforehand with the name of the type of seed that you are storing on that page. This way, you can pick up the seed you want later on without any trouble.
The Sewing Room
If you are an expert, a sewing room or section is a must-have for you. While all the pins, yarns, and fabric might make the room completely look distraught, certain modifications and hacks can help the room bloom.
You could use hangers and boxes to keep all the loose items in place. Besides, having an organized sewing room with all the yarns and colorful fabrics make it look like a piece of art that has been molded into perfection. So, you get decor and organization both!
