The Best Classic Witchy Flicks to Watch This Halloween

It’s Halloween evening. The night is dark, the ominous moon is rising and the trick or treaters are out and about. If there is any time to watch a spooky movie, it’s now. Witchy magic has made a dark and daring comeback to popular culture but there’s simply nothing like a nostalgic viewing of one of these retro spooky classics.

Witches of Eastwick
Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer, Susan Sarandon and Jack Nicholson – need we say more? With an ensemble cast of iconic actors, some incredible eighties hair and a spine-chilling love/revenge story, there are so many reasons to watch this movie. Released in 1987, the flick is also a wonderful dose of retro nostalgia.

The Craft
This is bewitching nineties girl power at its finest. The Craft (1996) is a high school horror movie with a supernatural twist. It tells the tale of the local new girl who secretly wields telekinetic powers. Innocent Sarah soon joins forces with three other witches but the foursome’s witchy antics ultimately end in tragedy.

Practical Magic
Sarah Bullock and Nicole Kidman play two sisters gifted with beguiling abilities passed down from generations of women. Sally and Gillian are forced to resort to dark magic when one of Gillian’s romances go awry. It’s an equally lovely and creepy story about the power of love, friendship and sisterhood.

Hocus Pocus
Halloween would simply not be Halloween without the eternally-loved cult film, Hocus Pocus (1993). Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy play a fabulous trio of mischievous witches who have been woken after a century’s slumber. In a quest to gain immortality, the witches wreak havoc in the small town near Salem.
