Tunde’s life was not how she imagined it would be. She had always aspired to finish nursing school, have a happy marriage, and a stable financial situation. Sadly, she was at rock bottom in all three aspects of her life. Her marriage had fallen apart and she was going through a bad divorce, her debts were piling up, and she could not afford to finish her nursing degree.

Tunde was from Georgia, and after her divorce had gone through she found herself in dire straits financially. Usually, you hope that after going through a life-changing event like divorce that things will begin to get better, but this was not the case for Tunde. Things continued to spiral out of control, and one day she found herself on the way to work, in the pouring rain, with barely any gas in her car, and only $5 to her name.

Since she had been unable to finish her nursing degree, she was working a job as a hospice care worker.

Tunde was an active member of the Cornerstone Church in Athens, Georgia and it would seem like her constant prayers were answered by a fellow member of the congregation. As she did not have enough money to fill up her car on her way to the hospice center that day, the inevitable happened – she ran out of gas.

So, there she was stuck in the pouring rain knowing she needed to get to work but to do that she either had to walk or procure some gas for her car. It seemed like an insurmountable task at the time.

A Helping Hand

Tunde got the helping hand she needed, and it involved placing her trust in a stranger which is not advised but had a positive outcome in this instance. It was 2014 and Christ Wright drove by Tunde as she made her way in the torrential rain to get some gas for her car. He and his family were on their way to church and the image of the sodden woman trudging through the rain stayed with him as he arrived at the church doorstep.

As his family tumbled out of the car and made their way to the church he knew, without a shadow of a doubt what he needed to do.
