Meghan Markle is allegedly battling the Queen for custody over the new royal

Being a royal is not all it is cracked up to be. There certainly are perks to being a part of the world’s most famous family (other than the Kardashian’s of course), such as royal jewels, events, notoriety, and being a part of a family that the entire world knows about. However, there are also serious complications that can arise when one wants to do something other than the royal etiquette allows or warrants. If Meghan does not get along with someone in her new family then it is not just a matter of looking the other way, the press usually finds out and makes an even bigger deal out of it. This is exactly the case when it comes to the allegations that Queen Elizabeth wants to have custody of little Archie, Meghan and Harry’s little boy. This is a little outlandish but control within the ranks of the royal family is not unheard of and there is a reason to believe that such a course of action makes sense for the royal family.

Overdue

Meghan’s exact due date was not given to the public, but it was estimated to be at the end of April or early May. Meghan ended up giving birth to Archie on May 6th, giving birth to her son at 5:26 in the morning.

Meghan and Harry decided not to know the gender of their baby until the birth, which also happens to be royal custom. Everyone was surprised and happy with the birth of a baby boy.

Custody

The happy news of the birth was slightly short-lived when the allegations that Queen Elizabeth and Meghan are not on the same page when it comes to the way each wants to raise Archie. The Queen is not worried about whether Meghan and Harry can care for their son, it has more to do with the geographical logistics.

The Royals have always lived pretty close to one another, and all of them within their nation. The biggest concern was that Meghan would want to raise her son in the United States considering she is American and that is a possibility.

Gender

Prior to Meghan’s delivery of Archie, the world did not know the gender or the due date. After Archie arrived, the world learned that his delivery date was actually late and that he was, in fact, a baby boy! Once the formal announcement was made to the public, the next topic of interest was what the couple was going to name their son considering naming royal babies is something very important.

Two days after his birth, Meghan and Harry revealed that they named their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor; a fantastic name for a super important royal baby.

Harry

Harry is stuck between his wife and grandmother. Normally that is an uncomfortable situation as it is, but when you are a prince and your grandmother is the Queen of a nation, it gets a whole lot more complicated. Harry has always been a relaxed guy, the kind of man who goes with the flow and does not make too big a statement.

However, in the case of his grandmother the Queen taking over custody of his son so as to make sure he remains in the UK, he cannot remain apathetic and quiet. In the past, Meghan has said her mind, and it is time for Harry to.

Different rules

In reality, Harry and Meghan do not actually have custody over their son. The fact is, the Queen has custody over all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The reason for this is a law dating back to the 1700s when King George I was on the throne. He made this law so that he could make sure to always have a relationship with his family.

What about Kate?

Kate Middleton also deals with the fact that technically, the Queen has custody of her three children as well. Kate did not rebel against the Queen on this, but it is a tough pill to swallow for a mother.

For Kate, the situation is not as heavy as Meghan’s, as one day, Kate will sit alongside William on the throne. This means that she will have the power to do what she wants, but we can’t see her moving to her “commoner” town in England.

Rebel

Harry was always known as the rebel of the royal family. However, his wife has since taken the title for herself. As soon as Meghan joined the family, she had her own thoughts as to how things are going to be run within her own household, and when she got pregnant she started dropping hints about how she was going to raise her son.

The major concern was that Meghan would want to take her child elsewhere.

Different traditions

From the moment Meghan joined the royal family, she has done things a little her way. She has made her own tweaks to the royal dress code, allowing herself to dress a little more provocatively (by no means inappropriately), or be a part of initiatives that would otherwise be less than endearing for the Royals to be a part of.

Meghan marches to the beat of her own drum, and raising her son is absolutely no exception to the way she runs things.

Running away

A source close to the Royals has said that there was a plan by Meghan to run away to the United States with her son. That is one serious accusation if you ask us, but the source said that it was, in fact, a fear. They said that Meghan planned to have Harry come with her and that she had the whole thing planned out.

This allegation has yet to be tested as Meghan is still in the UK, but the scrutiny is very strong on Meghan now.

Enough

The fear of the Royal family was that Meghan would try to push back against the rules that the family has lived by for centuries. That fear has been realized a few times since Meghan married Harry, with sources saying that Meghan thinks that certain rules are old-fashioned and should no longer be exercised.

Throughout her pregnancy, the Royal family was nervous about how Meghan was going to handle her newfound motherhood and what she was going to do.

Dual citizen

Due to the fact that Meghan is an American citizen, her child will be eligible for dual citizenship with the United Kingdom and the United States.

In the United Kingdom, however, Archie is a part of the Royal family, wherein the United States he has no more rights than any other person in the country.

Royal Protection

Each country has its own law and although relationships between both countries have been amicable, this may not always be the situation. The only thing that may create a better path for Archie in the United States is that he may have more notoriety thanks to the fact that his mother and father are famous.

This rings alarm bells for the Queen, she would never want a member of her family to go and live in a place where they cannot be protected and respected as a Royal.

Intervening Queen

Considering that there is a real fear that Meghan will take Archie to the United States, the Queen has decided to intervene. The Royal legal team has been preparing for such a scenario and introduced a law a while ago that would cover them should something like this happen.

This particular custody issue was created under British law years ago and has been in place since the 1700s. The Royal family want to be prepared for all scenarios and it seems thinking ahead had been the best option for them.

Doing the research

Although we are not sure it would actually happen it appears they were correct to get their ducks in a row should Meghan decide to take her own legal action.

While in her whirlwind of love, sources have said that Meghan dived right into the relationship and move, giving little attention to all of the tiny details that can heavily affect the rest of her life and her baby boy.

Unique situation

If Meghan were somehow successful in taking Archie to the United States, this would be the first time in the history of the British monarchy that a Royal child would be raised anywhere other than the United Kingdom.

The insider who seems to know the ins and outs of this situation said that the Queen is nervous about it but the most distressing thing was what the source’s insight into Meghan visiting the United States.

Camilla’s help

Of all of the people in the Royal family, it is Camilla Parker Bowles who is helping Meghan more than anyone else. Camilla is said to feel a sense of duty to Meghan and it looks as though it is a good job that she has someone on her side.

Camilla understands what it is like to be outside of the Royal family and thinks that Meghan should have the legal rights over her own children. It is said that this is why Camilla and Charles waited until they were older to marry, and she didn’t want to feel pressure to have a Royal baby.

Too little, too late

Apparently, Camilla has even given Meghan information about what the palace is planning to do should she take legal action. This inside help has been great for Meghan but the information has come a little too late.

The quickness of Meghan and Harry’s relationship has set the Queen up to be able to do exactly as she wants, and that includes having custody of Archie.

Meghan’s legal help

Somehow the story is that Meghan actually flew to New York City quietly in order to put together a legal team for herself should she need one. She was said to have hired some of the best lawyers in the child custody field.

If this were indeed to go down so to speak, this would be a very ugly battle and one that has never happened to this day considering it is between a woman and a Queen.

Threatening

In addition to saying that she will sue for custody of her son, it is said that Meghan is also threatening to reveal some secrets about the Royal family to the public. This is strictly against rules as has never been done before.

This does not seem to be Meghan’s style, but you cannot put a woman in such a position and expect her to act normally. The Royal family may walk on eggshells because of this but for now, it only pushes Meghan more out of the family.

Speaking out

No one truly knows what Meghan knows, but considering she is a part of the Royal family at the moment she will know much more than the average person.

The press would jump on this straight away and if Meghan thinks this gives her the upper hand, she would be wrong. This only agitates the on-going custody situation.

A mother’s agenda

There are signs that Harry may be on Meghan’s side about this matter and is also helping. There are speculations that there is a large “Royal project” to take place in the United States.

This would mean that Harry and his family would spend many months, if not longer, in the United States at a time. On the good side, this means Archie gets to grow up with his maternal grandmother and other members of Meghan’s family.

 

Oprah connection

There is a deal in motion between Harry and Oprah that is said to be the brainchild of Meghan. The television deal between the two is contingent on the fact that Harry and his family remain in the United States for a minimum of six months.

Meghan and Oprah have a history and so the palace insider is convinced that this has something to do with getting the family to the United States on a more permanent basis.

Mom

As with many new mothers, they want their own mom around them to help them out with maneuvering through this new phase of life. Meghan is very close to her mother, Doria, whom she cannot imagine not being around as she raises her son.

However, considering Meghan technically does not have custody of Archie, to begin with, this is about to get a whole lot messier and uncomfortable for Meghan and her family. How complicated!

Split emotions

Upon hearing about this allegation in regards to moving and raising her child in the US, the public has been split as to what they think is right.

There are those who say that Meghan has made a lot of changes in her life to be a member of the Royal family and that the concept of a mother not having custody of her own child because she is a Royal is entirely not okay.

Middle

As we mentioned earlier, Harry is stuck between a rock and a hard place. The insider to the Royals said that Harry does not know what to do and who to side with considering they are all his family and he loves everyone involved. It is said that he is also trying to find common ground and a solution that will make everyone involved happy.

It cannot be easy to be stuck between your wife and grandmother.

American royalty

While the United States does not have royalty, Meghan and Harry are as close to being an American Royal couple as can be. Considering Harry is not the next in line for the throne, or anywhere near thanks to William and Kate having their respective children, it is not as big a deal as if William’s children would want to move across the pond.

It is also the fact that baby Archie is open to getting American citizenship.

During this time

While all of these allegations and rumors are running rampant, Harry and Meghan are living in London and learning to be loving parents to little Archie Harrison. the most important thing is that he is healthy and happy and that no matter what legal issues may ensue (pun intended) that Archie’s wellbeing is the very top priority for all.

Archie has already made such a difference in his parent’s lives, with much more to come.

Sidelines

Marlene Koenig, a Royal expert, said that while it is legal for the Queen to take action should she feel the need to thanks to the law from 1717, it is highly unusual and unlikely that she will. She has never used it to forcefully put for a method of raising one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The law is not enacted and is mostly a formality that still exists. We can only hope that Meghan and her family are prepared for anything.
