Rumors say that Meghan Markle's Royal life isn't what she thought it was going to be

While it seems like Meghan has morphed into her role as Duchess of Sussex quite well, sources say that the royal life she now has to lead may not be all it was cracked up to be. The birth of their recent child has put her in the spotlight more than ever with the media and the public wondering if baby Archie will be a prince. Rumors have started swirling that Meghan may not be happy with this very public life she now has to lead.

A Baby And An Anniversary

Meghan and Harry have already been married for just over a year and had baby Archie during this time. So you cannot say that they haven’t been busy. But it has not been all tea parties and charity events for Meghan.

Instead, now that she has a royal baby, and possibly more on the way, there are some new protocols that have to be adhered to which have really put some limits on what she can and cannot do in the public sphere.

A Big Adjustment

When Harry first started courting Meghan it seemed like it truly was a fairy tale romance. The two were inseparable from the start and they both routinely gazed at each other adoringly for the paparazzi.

As an American though, it seemed like Meghan did not really understand the importance of being a member of the royal family and the immense pressures she would find herself under once she finally tied the knot with Harry. The freedom she had as an American civilian would not be the same once she had her title of Duchess of Sussex bestowed on her.

Growing Up Royal

When you are born royal the way Prince Harry and Prince William were you know exactly how to behave and what your responsibilities are. This is because they have had tutors, protocol instructors, and have been able to watch how their parents navigate the royal social scene. But Meghan did not have this knowledge.

All her time in the spotlight had come from being an actress on the small screen for various television shows like Suits. It was a very steep learning curve for her and one that she is still on. But is she truly happy with this new life and all that it entails?

Not The People’s Princess

When it was announced that Meghan and Harry were engaged there was a public outcry. Some of Harry’s loyal subjects were happy that he was finally settling down but others were not thrilled that his bride was an American actress who had been previously married.

She was a far cry from what the Royal family had imagined for their fiery prince but he was smitten and she was it for him. As Meghan and her immediate family got harassed by the media and people on the street Kensington Palace did something unprecedented: they royally asked that she be left alone as it had become a question of safety.

Did Meghan Make A Mistake?

Now that Meghan and Harry are married and have a child she is firmly ensconced within the royal family. But is she happy with her new life or does she miss her old one? Rumors have abounded that Meghan has not settled into her role as duchess as easily as she thought she would.

She is now a household name, and everyone knows her face after her royal wedding. The jury is still out on whether or not Harry and Meghan will last. They have not actually dated or been married for that long, only just over three years.

No Divorces

There have been a lot of very public divorces in the royal family, especially when Prince Harry’s parents divorced. Prince Charles and Princess Diana had one of the most publicized divorces of all time, especially with the scandal of Charles’ continued relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles.

Due to this, the Queen decided to institute a family policy in which her grandchildren had to be very serious about who they were dating before even thinking about marriage.

No Love Lost

The road to Duchess-dom has really been difficult for Meghan made even more so by her family. Her father, in particular, Thomas Markle decided to try and make some money by going to the press with all sorts of personal information regarding her relationship with the prince and his family.

Her father decided that the perfect time to thrust her even further into the spotlight would be right before her wedding when literally the whole world was watching.

Daddy Drama

So what exactly did Thomas Markle decided to sell to the press about Meghan? It was mainly just some speculation about himself and about whether he could go to the wedding or could not. He made it sound like he was the bad guy and the royal family was trying to box him out of the affair because he was talking to the press about his daughter.

But it did not stop with him simply talking to the press, he saw an opportunity to make some money selling something else.

Picture Perfect

Some photos of Thomas surfaced from him stateside reading a book about Britain. But it turned out that these photos were completely set-up by Thomas. He thought that with Meghan now incredibly wealthy it was his time to make some money off of her fame.

He sold these photos to the press to show that he ‘might’ be going to the wedding. He thought the quick snaps might actually make him look better but instead, they made him look worse.

Christening

Meghan Markle has had to deal with a storm of media swamping her every move and it is clear that she is wanting and succeeding at taking control of this. Prince Harry, of course, lost his mother, Princess Diana, in a media chase and this is something in particular that he probably agrees with his wife on.

Because of everything, on July 6, the married couple celebrated the christening of baby Archie in Windsor, at a small ceremony of only close friends and family. Meghan is said to be finding the fact that everyone thinks they have a right to her baby, very overwhelming. The public has found it annoying to have been shut out on the day however thanks to the official photographs, things have been smoothed over, slightly!

Sister Act

Not to be left out of the mix, Meghan’s half-sister Samantha decided to try and have her fifteen minutes of fame. Taking to social media she decided to vilify Meghan by saying all sorts of nasty things about her character and her person.

It would seem like these two sisters have no love for each other which is really a shame. Sometimes family drama should really be kept private but not for the Markle’s it would seem.

Sister-In-Law Squabbles

Even though Meghan has been a part of the royal family for over a year now it would seem like she is not getting on with one of the people who are closest to her husband: her sister-in-law, Duchess Kate.

The two women are sometimes pictured together looking like the best of friends but according to inside sources, there has been a feud growing between the two for quite some time. Maybe there is a rivalry going on.

Dueling Duchesses

After the birth of her third child, Duchess Kate found herself attending to certain aspects of Meghan and Harry’s wedding, namely a dress fitting for little Princess Charlotte. She had been feeling a bit poorly after giving birth and the stress of Meghan’s wedding was simply too much.

Meghan was reported to be something of a bridezilla and actually made Kate cry which is simply not something one does with a future sister in law.

An Unbecoming Nickname

Meghan’s bridezilla ways quickly filtered through the palace from the royal family down to the staff involved in the preparations for the upcoming nuptials. It seemed like this bride and future royal family member only cared about her own image and what she was gaining by being in this wealthy and influential family.

Rumor has it she is not so fondly called the ‘difficult duchess’ or to make it even more personal, ‘Me-gain’ both of which are very unflattering.

Making Sacrifices

Prior to joining the royal family and even dating Prince Harry, Meghan had all sorts of hobbies and causes that she was involved with. But the biggest thing that she has had to give up was her private life. The media always knows where she is whether it is at home in Frogmore Cottage or in attendance at Buckingham Palace.

If she wants to sneak out to a place for a quick coffee she cannot. She is always tailed by her team of private bodyguards now.

Goodbye Acting Career

As a Royal, you cannot have a normal day job like being a lawyer and especially not an actress. Anything that has you playing a role which might not be in line with the family image means it is an automatic no-go.

Meghan had a starring role in the drama Suits as an up and coming lawyer and paralegal Rachel Zane. But Harry made it clear that as soon as the two of them were on the road to marriage that she could not act anymore.

Strict Clothing Protocols

To make it even harder, Meghan had been running her own lifestyle and fashion blog but that, along with her Instagram and other social media accounts were quickly deactivated. She was then persona non grata online and when she was photographed her personal style was no longer the same.

She now had to make sure her hemlines were knee level and everything was pre-approved according to royal dressing protocols. No more wearing daring patterns or risque gowns.

A British Citizen

Now that Meghan is married to a British citizen she will become eligible for citizenship herself. But as an American, if she feels any nationalism for her home country she may want to keep her American citizenship.

Dual citizenship tends to be frowned upon by the royal family as they want their members to be fully committed to their country which is responsible for something like 53 Commonwealth countries. Meghan may be faced with a tough decision soon.

A Steep Learning Curve

According to royal etiquette specialists, Meghan’s continued time in the public eye for negative things like her relationships with other royals may actually cause her problems as time goes on. She needs to assimilate into the royal family and accept their way of doing things instead of going her own way which is what she did when she was an actress.

This means accepting a totally new way of life and of doing things. Does she have it in her?

They’ve Come A Long Way

With so much bad publicity it has been nice to see that Harry and Meghan still seem to be just as in love with each other as when they first started dating. The birth of a little boy, Archie has seemed to firmly cement that Meghan is now a part of the royal family.

The Queen does seem like she has warmed up to Meghan and has even been seen on an outing just the two of them which even Kate does not get to do very often.

Image Maintenance

As of now, Harry and Meghan have finally garnered the public’s approval. The bad publicity brought on by her past and her family seems like it has faded into the background and now the focus is simply on her role as a mother and a duchess.

Harry has quickly thrown himself back into his work with the upcoming Invictus Games and Meghan, who is on maternity leave from her duties is starting to show up at some events.

On The Tax-Payers Dime

Known as something of a fashion icon now, Meghan’s style is oft-remarked upon usually because she is outfitted in designer duds from her bespoke hats to her beautifully tailored coats. But the issue with this is that it is not being paid for out of her own wallet, it is actually funded by the British people’s taxes.

Due to this, it might be in her best interest to watch her spending unless she wants the public to turn on her for spending too many of their pounds.

Money Spent Wisely?

Another instance of some royal spending that might be considered extravagant was the $3.8 million that was spent on Frogmore Cottage to make it more modern on the inside.

This is the residence that Meghan, Harry, and Archie now reside at but it seems like it was not quite up to snuff and so taxpayers got to fund all the workers and materials needed to modernize the estate. Apparently, the renovations had needed to happen if it was going to be used as a single-family home.

Was it necessary?

While the renovation rubbed some people up the wrong way, there are certainly some who won’t let it go and it is important that Harry and Meghan worked on winning over the public. Many understand that with family life upon them that some changes in the home were necessary but if all of it was, is another question altogether.

The property was turned from one medium-sized cottage into a gigantic one, with five cottages all being brought together. Adding a luxury kitchen, multiple bathrooms and much more, do a family of three really need all this room? According to the British taxpayers, it was not!

Public annoyance

Being a Royal goes hand in hand with a life that you are gifted, never having to work a normal job and having an endless supply of money that they people of the country have to give to you. We can see why this may frustrate some Britons.

Many of them don’t understand that the extra can’t be paid for by Meghan herself, after all, she was an actress and she certainly has the money. Wellmore than most!

People’s Money

Meghan was not expecting the backlash over the house spend and it would appear that it isn’t something that she is used to, with so many people, that she has never met before, interfering with her home renovation.

Most people say they would sympathize with her if she was spending her own money. However, it’s certainly something she just needs to get used to whether she likes it or not.

Her money

Meghan must have been aware that her personal life would be invaded when she entered the Royal family but we are not too sure if she thought her funds and bank statement would be. There are many people that really believe they have a right to the Royal family, it is a totally different situation to that of a celebrity.

People who wanted to know what she earns decided to do some digging around and allegedly they found out that she was making $50,000 per episode for her role in Suits. It’s not hard to work out that she was certainly earning a nice wage and won’t be short in the bank.

Talking Out

Although most in people in England have never heard of it, here in America the law series was a hit show. So now the people want to know where her money is and this is a question Meghan refuses to answer. Prince Harry is said to have had enough of the fuss over his wife.

When they first started out in their relationship, Harry went as far as to release a public statement saying that his wish was to leave Meghan and her family alone. Perhaps another statement is on the way.

Paying back

The statement was rumored to have been initiated by Meghan herself. Very quickly she realized that marrying a Prince in real life isn’t the same as it is in the fairy tales.

More recently there was a push to say exactly how much money the Royal family put into the national economy every year. For Meghan, she believed that this would deter people from attacking her vocally all the time.

Show me the money

Before the pair wed, it was said that an estimated $2.2 billion had been handed over, but with this figure, many are wondering exactly where that money comes from.

The Royal family do have their own assets but the “majority of it is the taxpayer’s money”. This opinion set Meghan on a mission to prove everyone wrong and so she instigated something else that she thought would make people see her and the Royal family in a different light.

Another argument

Something else Meghan wants to have out there is how much money the Royals bring to England through tourism. Alongside this, Meghan also believes that she is now apart of that and will attract her own tourists to the country.

Many Americans already love the Royal family, will she persuade others to adopt the same view? Well, we are just not sure. As the English say, “The Royals are like marmite, you either love them or hate them”.

Bright Idea

It is an argument that has some understanding to it, however. There are people all around the world that flock to London the see the Royal family, and the majority of the time all they are seeing is Buckingham Palace from outside of the gates.

Meghan might actually be onto something here. Hopefully, Harry and Meghan continue to garner favor with the British public and their spending habits do not bother them too much.

What Does The Future Hold?

People all over the world love that the royal family has been mixed up with an American as it makes them a lot more relatable than having every family member born of royal blood.

We hope that Meghan shines in her role as the Duchess and does not let the difficulties of the position keep her from being happy.
