15 Signs and Symbols Perfectly Hidden in Plain Sight

Most of us fall into a monotonous pattern with the exception of privileged people. Our day starts by waking up; we have the same breakfast every day, take the same route to our jobs, refer to similar forms of entertainment, and end it. Familiarity is comfortable, which explains why humans like to stick to things they know about. Change isn’t simple, and accommodating to it is even more so. Possibly, that is why we tend to dissociate from the environment, taking in only what we wish to process. We look at something and forget it, disregarding the hours of work that went into the design process. It can be easy to ignore the small details hiding in plain sight.

Three letters on US pennies

Not just American presidents but many significant figures and political authorities have found their faces on currency through time. It sure is a befitting way to mark someone who has made it in and earned their place on the pages of history. Abraham Lincoln, a former President of the USA, has been the face of the one-cent coin since 1908.

The artist behind the design is Victor David Brenner. Extremely proud of his work, Victor incorporated elements that would show that he was the mind behind the drawing. Every one-cent penny made in the US Mint has featured three special letters. Upon close observation, we can see they spell “VDB” – the initials of Victor’s name.

The FedEx logo

FedEx might be one of those logos that most people recognize. This delivery company has been operational since 1971 and delivers almost everywhere. They spent years crafting the perfect logo that captures the very essence of their brand. Before the short and sweet version “FedEx,” the freight company was known as “Federal Express.” It was only in 1994 when the name and logo were shortened.

Between the “x” and the “e,” we can see a hidden arrow. The arrow supposedly signifies the speed and accuracy with which the company delivers goods. Interesting fact: the “ex” gets a different color according to the brand’s business, such as FedEx Express or FedEx Freight.

Hidden in the polar bear

Safe to say, Coca-Cola is the biggest beverage brand in the world. The company says that over 1.9 billion servings of this fizzy drink are consumed each day in more than 200 countries. Apart from the secret to their bubbly recipe, another Coca-Cola secret is that a pharmacist formulated the drink. However, the company took over after the passing of John S. Pemberton, and controls were handed over to Asa Griggs Candler.

Popularly referred to as the “Peacock Network,” NBC has gained mainstream popularity for many reasons, primarily their logo. Before they dominated the silver screen, NBC did not have a logo. Their designs failed to last long.

However, audiences saw the peacock for the first time in 1956. In 1986, it got its final form and became the peacock logo we all see and love today. There is a stellar reason behind NBC choosing that majestic animal in particular. The network’s owner was RCA, a brand forerunner in selling color TV sets. They hoped that the vibrant logo would help sell other products as well.
