The 50 Strongest DC Characters, Ranked

pinterest.com

The depiction of superpowers is maybe the most significant contrast between DC and Marvel. While many Marvel characters are altered or cursed by their abilities, DC Comics superheroes are revered and adored as gods. Both publishers offer superheroes capable of lifting large buildings off the ground, and accomplishing the seemingly impossible. With Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Luke Cage, Marvel excels at street-level vigilantism, but it also boasts the Avengers and an entire galactic armada of characters. In the meantime, DC appears to be churning out all-powerful characters after all-powerful characters, such as Superman and Wonder Woman. As far as groups, DC has the Justice League, Justice Society, Legion of Super-Heroes, the publisher has an abundance of the world’s most powerful superheroes.

50. Superboy (Jon Kent)

Fans have always speculated what would happen if Superman had a child. This concept has been explored in various Elseworld stories. In most cases, Superman’s offspring is an all-powerful person who has the potential to disrupt the superhero game forever.

Jorge Jimenez / pinterest.com

The truth, however, is quite different. Jonathan Samuel Kent, who debuted with the start of DC’s Rebirth era, is a 10-year-old boy trying to figure out who he is and where he fits within the DC Universe. He’s not a messiah or a scientific monster; he is just a good kid learning to use his abilities for the first time.

49. Hourman

With the use of the medicine Miraclo, the superhero Hourman was able to obtain tremendous power. Hourman was a long-serving member of the Justice Society of America, having been used by Rex Tyler and then his son Rick to become super strong for one hour at a time.

Tom Fleming

Despite his strength, Hourman was never anywhere near the powerhouse that Superman is regarded as. Hourman loses a lot of points because of the one-hour restriction, but Rick Tyler’s experience behind the scenes makes him a little more dangerous. Nevertheless, the Miraclo medication has become addictive, putting his superhero career in jeopardy.

48. Aquaman

Super strength isn’t something you’d expect to see in someone like Aquaman. He’s mainly connected with his abilities to speak with sea creatures and swim really fast when he’s not being regarded as a ridiculous joke of a superhero. But, how powerful is Aquaman? He’s even been shown to be capable of punching Superman in the face.

Rather than shattering his hand as a normal person would, Aquaman has sent the Man of Steel flying during the New 52 Justice League series’ “Throne of Atlantis” storyline. Superman challenged Aquaman about his ties with the United States in the other incident.

47. Wonder Girl

Many of the most well-known superheroes have sidekicks. Each new sidekick in Wonder Woman appears to be a dilution of the original hero. Cassie Sandsmark is introduced as the daughter of Zeus and a real demigoddess with extraordinary abilities.

She is, however, a little less powerful than Donna Troy due to her age. However, Cassie has grown as a stronger and more effective hero from her tenure as a member of Young Justice to her graduation to the Teen Titans. Wonder Girl, with the power of her future self in the Titans of Tomorrow, has a lot of growth ahead.

46. Loose Cannon

DC Comics used the “Bloodlines” crossover in the early 1990s as an excuse to introduce a slew of new superheroes and villains. When alien parasites infected them, these “New Bloods” were given superhuman abilities, culminating in the formation of the Blood Pack superhero team and characters such as Hitman and Gunfire.

Before gaining tremendous superpowers, Loose Cannon “Eddie Walker” was a cop that seemed destined for the spotlight. Eddie, like the Hulk, transforms into a gigantic, hulking form when he becomes enraged. His skin is blue when he first becomes angry, but it changes colors as he becomes more enraged.

45. Atom Smasher

Most superheroes with superhuman strength are disproportionately small in comparison to their incredible abilities. Justice Society member Al Rothstein has the capacity to grow in size and change his density and strength in direct proportion to his size. This means that if he’s 60 feet tall, he’ll have the abilities you’d expect a human to have at that size.

Atom Smasher, who stands over seven feet tall in his normal condition, is a force to be reckoned with. He demonstrated that he can easily snatch jet planes from the sky and that he can compete with almost any superpowered individual.

44. Captain Marvel Jr.

Freddy Freeman was one of the original sidekicks in superhero comics, and he was one of the first to appear. Captain Marvel was given to Captain Marvel Jr. exactly a year after Batman received Robin in 1940. Despite his relative obscurity in comparison to other sidekicks, Captain Marvel Jr. was well-known enough to Elvis Presley that he modeled his on-stage outfits after him.

The Captain gave Freddy a portion of his power, much as the Wizard gave Billy Batson the power of Shazam. He has the same skills of the original Captain by pronouncing the words Captain Marvel out loud.

43. Superboy (Kon-El)

Cadmus decided to clone Superman after the Man of Steel died in the battle against Doomsday so that Metropolis would always have a guardian. Their cloning efforts yielded a child who would become Superboy. Superman took this kid, gave him a Kryptonian name (Kon-El) and an Earth name (Conner Kent), and taught him how to be a true hero after he returned to the world of the living.

He possesses many of the same superpowers as his mentor, with the addition of tactile telekinesis, which allows him to exert control over anything he comes into contact with (among other things).

42. Ultra Boy

Superheroes originally appeared in the twentieth century, but their legacy lives on with the Legion of Super-Heroes, which was founded in the thirty-first century. Young heroes came together to establish the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Members like Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, and Brainiac 5 are well-known, but when they require extra strength, they turn to Jo Nah of Rimbor, better known as Ultra Boy. He’s one of the team’s most powerful characters, despite all of the Legionnaires’ various abilities. Jo Nah has been proven to have all of Superman’s skills, although he can only utilize one at a time.

41. Big Barda

Apokolips and the New Gods of New Genesis are two of the most powerful cosmic entities in the universe. Big Barda, one of the most powerful of the New Gods, was raised to be a member of Darkseid’s elite soldiers, the Female Furies, and eventually became their commander.

Barda has superhuman strength and combat powers that rival Wonder Woman’s and she has proven to be one of the most fearsome warriors in the DC Universe.

40. Mary Marvel

Mary Marvel is the first female spinoff of a male superhero, having debuted more than a decade before Supergirl. She has become connected with the world of wizards and magic words, just like her twin brother Billy Batson. She may take on the same powers as her brother by saying the word Shazam.

However, it’s explained in several of their stories that she, her brother, and Freddy Freeman all share a finite amount of strength, which means that the more heroes who use their skills, the weaker they all become. This is her main limitation when it comes to powers.

39. OMAC

Over the years, there have been various different interpretations of OMAC, but they all possess extraordinary physical power. Buddy Blank was created by Jack Kirby and first appeared in the post-apocalyptic wasteland that was subsequently revealed to be Kamandi’s home.

Buddy was powered up into the One Man Army Corps by the sentient satellite Brother Eye, which allowed him to do incredible feats of strength to help him create rule and order in a lawless world. He was revealed to be capable of manhandling the people he fought against, and he had the capacity to break through heavy futuristic technology.

36. Green Lantern Corps

Although she’s technically older than Superman, her latest origin claims that she was locked in suspended animation until she arrived on Earth.
