The Royal Family Traditions That We Never Knew About
The Royal Family used to spend the majority of their time hidden away in the palace with only a few of us ever lucky enough to see them. However, that has all changed with the new generation of Royals. Queen Elizabeth II is said to have been one of the leading people to bring the family into the modern day as she gave control back to many of the nations under the crown as well as making the Royals more approachable than ever. This means that we’ve been closer to their lives than ever before.
Thankfully, breaking down the barriers between the Royals and the public means that we’ve become more involved in their lives than ever. As well as watching who’s dating who, we also get to be there as the Royal Family welcome their new additions. However, it turns out there are some traditions the Royal Family have to follow with their new babies that won’t be changing anytime soon.

Set in stone
The Royal Family is now more modern than it’s ever been as the members of the family build more of a relationship with the public than we have ever seen.

Although many members of the family work hard to make sure they are as modern as possible, it turns out there are some traditions the Royal Family still have to follow when they welcome their new Royal babies to the world. Perhaps some things aren’t meant to change?
They never announce the gender
One of the many things that members of the Royal Family aren’t allowed to do is announce the gender of their new baby before they are welcomed to the world. That’s right; the Royals want to keep the entire things a surprise – even though many expecting parents now choose to learn the news beforehand.

Believe it or not, but Kate and William opted to keep things a surprise for themselves with all three of their children. As if that wasn’t enough, Queen Elizabeth II didn’t even announce she was pregnant. The palace merely announced that she wouldn’t be partaking in any Royal engagements for a while.
Babies have special blankets
Many garments have been passed down through the generations of a family. However, it turns out that Royal babies get gifted their own brand new knitted-lace shawl from G.H.Hurt & Son as soon as they are born. The company has been crafting the blankets in Nottingham, England, for the last 100 years.

They gifted a shawl to all three of Kate and William’s children as Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were all seen wrapped up in one after they were born. In fact, Prince William was even presented with one of their shawls when he was still a baby.
They have a lot of help
Giving birth can be an amazing, yet highly stressful, time for many. Perhaps that’s why the Royals often have so many members of staff in the room to help them along the way? It’s believed there is always at least one lab technician as well as four pediatricians, two special care staffers, three anesthesiologists, and two obstetricians in the room at one time.

To top it off, the ward is also usually filled with a host of doctors and midwives who will have been on call for many months before the birth to make sure they are there and ready for whenever the Royal mother goes into labor.
