Oh, pizza. You’re the cheesy, Italian delight that most people just can’t resist. This recipe will not only satisfy your pizza craving but will also offer your body a few health-boosting secret ingredients.
For the base:
4 whole pita shells
For the sauce:
10 cloves of roasted garlic
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon tomato paste
For the toppings:
Fresh kale, torn into small pieces
Fresh spinach, chopped
Roasted sweet potato
1. Preheat the oven to 375F. Blend the sauce ingredients in a food processor until smooth. Add pepper and salt to taste. Top tip: add an optional drizzle of honey to cut the acidity of the tomato paste.
2. Apply your sauce to the pizza shells and add your toppings. You can add just about anything to your topping selection. But remember that your kale, spinach, and sweet potato are the ingredients that make this recipe healthier and nutritious.
3. Place the pizza shells directly on to an oven rack. Bake for about 12 minutes, or until the toppings are cooked to a golden brown. Drizzle with olive oil, slice and enjoy!
