What To Expect From Season 3 Of The Handmaid’s Tale
A dystopia that has long been hitting fans a little bit too close to home with recent changes in the world is The Handmaid’s Tale which has returned for its third season. With the first three episodes now airing on Hulu, fans have been able to find out what is going on in Gilead and how June, Serena Joy, and Nick have fared with the events of last season’s ending. But this season seems like it is shaping up to be even more explosive. What can we expect over the next 13 episodes?

June’s Return To Gilead
The season two finale saw June giving up her baby, Nicole, to Alexis Bledel’s character Ofglen and her major decision to return to the totalitarian state that is Gilead. The question in all audiences’ minds is what will happen to June upon her return? Will she make it back without any major ramifications or will she find herself strung up on the wall like the other heretics? The trailer implies that there is ‘no official resistance’ which means that she is going to be free to be sent to another family as a handmaid. But we all know that she is there to try and bring the state to its knees with the help of other key resistance members.

Aunt Lydia: Dead Or Alive?
As one of the major villains in both season one and season two, it seems particularly unlikely that some scissors are what would take Aunt Lydia out of the game. But while she may seem to be pure evil onscreen she is nothing if not cunning. Expect to see her return to sniff out what exactly June did to ingratiate herself back into the good graces that are Gilead’s elite. Hopefully, she will be slightly incapacitated and less likely to deliver her particular style of punishment to those she deems to go against the Republic.
Serena Joy: Weak Or Strong?
Up until she realized that Gilead is not the utopian paradise she had worked so hard to create with her husband Commander Fred, Serena Joy had been one of Gilead’s staunchest supporters. But as women’s right and freedoms began to be more and more curtailed she saw the state for what it really was and finally realized her daughter, by way of June, could not be raised there. But knowing this and now being free to focus on herself will she finally rise up against her husband and join the resistance to bring down Gilead and everything it stands for?
Stay tuned and find out what is to come!
