Allegedly, the Queen will not be happy if Meghan raises her son vegan

The royal family lives by a different set of rules than the rest of the world. While they have their share of privilege, there are some ways of life that are frowned upon and even forbidden. Luckily for Meghan Markle, the vegan lifestyle is not a banned way of life by any means but it is not exactly the way the Royals have eaten for thousands of years, to the contrary. English royalty is known for its love of animals (horses and corgis especially) but also for the love of the hunt. Being an American, Meghan was brought up with her own customs and ways of thinking that are very different from those of the Royal family. Allegedly, one of the lifestyles she was thinking about adopting for her newborn son is veganism. The Queen was not all too happy to hear that and it was said that the Queen went as far as to say that she hoped that Meghan would reconsider and make a more logical decision. The Royals usually get their way in these matters, but Meghan is giving them a run for their money.

Big news

When Harry and Meghan announced that they were pregnant with their first child, the world was ecstatic. News outlets announced the baby updates as they were coming in and the world could not get enough.

The couple announced their family news in October 2018 and bump watch had commenced immediately. While everything was progressing normally, it was during this time that the world learned that Meghan may want to raise her child as a vegan.

Active Meghan

Meghan has always appreciated and acted on an active lifestyle. As a Hollywood actress, she needed to keep her appearance a certain way so she was always seen walking to and from yoga. Meghan got her active lifestyle and respect for health from her mother, Doria. Doria was a yoga instructor for a long time and therefore influenced Meghan in all matters of health.

Meghan was even involved in a lifestyle and health blog where she wrote about health and her own best practices. It is not that far fetched that Meghan would be attracted to veganism considering her upbringing.

Meghan’s diet

Up until the time that Meghan found out she was pregnant she ate very healthily but did not leave out any food group. However, when she did find out about the baby, she decided to switch her diet to a plant-based one during the week and an animal one during the weekends.

The thought process behind the switching up is unknown but Mehgan has always focused on her health to a high degree and as a woman who is growing another person it makes sense that she would be that much more attuned, with plant-based being her main diet.

Health conscious

As we mentioned, Meghan has always been a bit of a health junkie, but it is her husband, Prince Harry who has not always been a healthy eater or follower of healthy practices. Harry used to party a lot, which meant drinking a lot, he also would eat a lot of animal products and caffeine.

The local media reported (which has to be true, right?) that Meghan banned all alcohol and caffeine in the house. The impact was instant on Harry who was said to be a lot more relaxed and focused, having even his famous relatives impressed by the change.

Impact

Meghan’s impact on Harry in all aspects of his life is remarkable. She was able to change a once known bachelor to a one-woman man, an unhealthy partier into a responsible man and won the hearts of the public while doing so. Now that she was able to make Harry the man he is today, the lifestyle authority is indeed Meghan and she is onto her next project – her son.

She has a specific way of how she wants to raise him in terms of his diet and culinary upbringing. Meghan is going in a different direction than that of the rest of the family.

Meghan’s requests

It all started when Meghan put together a recipe booklet for the food she wants her son to be eating. She gave the book to the chef responsible for her and her family so as to make sure he is prepared for everything.

According to this book, the little royal is not going to be eating anything other than plant-based foods, ever. This may sound good to some, but Queen Elizabeth was not at all too happy to hear.

Queen’s two cents

No one’s opinion matters more than the Queen’s. When she heard that Meghan was going to have her son raised on a vegan diet, she was not a happy camper. It was reported that she hoped that Meghan would come to her senses in terms of that decision and thought that the baby should have a much broader eating structure.

The Royal family has not practiced veganism in all of its long history, and it seems as though the Queen does not want them to start now.

A little birdie

Queen Elizabeth and any future King or Queen of England has the power to decide who marries whom, what title each individual and family get, and a long list of other honors. While there are personal decisions that are made, the Queen does have say.

The Queen, however, was not told about the vegan way that Meghan wants to raise her son with Harry. It was said that she heard it from one of her staff members.

Taking control

Meghan is a perfectionist in all that she does. She has a way of doing things and a method to her madness when it comes to every aspect of her life.

Her child is no exception to her ways. Meghan deciding on her child’s way of eating is her way to take control over an element in her life where a lot of it is decided for her. Queen Elizabeth, however, wants Meghan to reconsider.

Alternate ways

Harry and Meghan have been on the vitamin game since before their pregnancy as to make sure that they are physically in tip-top shape to start a family. Meghan has taken her natural ways to a new level when it comes to her home.

She has been searching for alternatives to fabrics and other more natural ways to make her home as non-toxic as possible. Meghan vows to make her home as healthy as possible, from paint to cleaning supplies.

Switching up

Whether the Queen likes it or not, Meghan has already taken the steps to make her life more vegan. She has replaced all of her home favorites to vegan options. From cleaning supplies to the fabric of her towels and skin care products, everything is clean.

As for the food she eats, everything needs to be as clean as possible for her and her then-unborn child. Some think Meghan is going a little too obsessed with the clean game.

Taking the reins

It was said that Meghan was going to make her own baby food for her son so as to make sure that nothing but what she wants for him will go in there. She wanted a semblance of control over her mothering and is very adamant about that.

The fact that Meghan wants to control what her child eats and make sure everything is vegan, is just the first step in ensuring her child’s best care.

Following footsteps

While veganism is definitely an option, there are those who think that the baby will end up following his mom and dad’s diet – plant-based during the week and animal-based during the weekend so as to make sure there is no deficit in nutrient but not too much animal protein in anyone’s diet.

Meghan may not listen to the Queen but will take note in her advice since, at the end of the day, she is the Queen.

Tough spot

It is said that the Queen is not at all following Meghan’s reasoning for a vegan diet and will not allow the child to be raised in that way. Needless to say, the tension between the Queen and Harry and Meghan is at a high.

Harry is stuck between a rock and a hard place considering he is between his wife and his grandmother, royal family or not that is a very difficult place to be in.

Rift

The last thing Harry wants is there to be a rift between Meghan and the rest of the family. Some say he hopes that vegan thinking will subside when she gives birth and will realize that there are other ways to promote health without going to one extreme or another.

The rest of the family is not in agreement about this way of life either, although the Queen not being on board is the most upsetting thing to Harry.

Rule breaker

Meghan has been a rule breaker of the monarchy since the moment she entered their world thanks to Harry. While that is not necessarily a bad thing, when it comes to breaking certain rules it is far more impactful than just not wearing something properly.

The fact that Meghan wants to deviate so much from the Royal way of life culinarily, it is making it hard for the other royals to see it in a good light and therefore respect it.

Neutral

Whether the Royal family sees it or not, the public loves Meghan and her ability to relate to them. She is not a born royal and brings with her a lot of fresh air.

Due to the fact that Meghan and Harry did not know the gender of their child, they went the gender neutral route in terms of decorating for their baby. They chose white and grey paint for the nursery, all vegan paint, of course.

Apple meets tree

Since yoga is such an important aspect in Meghan’s life, she had continued to practice it throughout her pregnancy to help her with pains and sleeping. Now that Meghan has had her baby, however, there are those who say that the baby will be right there next to her as she practices.

Meghan was said to have installed an infant yoga space that has a section of floating floor and painted with yet more vegan paint.

The other direction

Another way that Meghan has differed from say Kate Middleton is that she is following her own birth plan and not giving birth at the Lindo Wing like Princess Diana and Kate Middleton have.

Meghan decided to go a more private path, deciding that she wanted the birth of her first child to be as personal as it would be if she were not part of the Royal family. From the very beginning, she was doing her own thing.

Natural as possible

In addition to her birthing place, Meghan had a plan as to her birthing process. It was said that Meghan wanted to have as natural a birth as possible. She did not want a lot of doctors around her and medicine in her system.

Meghan said she wanted to do yoga to balance the pain and will only change things up if there is something major that happens along the way; as decisive as ever.

Tradition breaker

Again, unlike her beloved past mother-in-law, and her sister-in-law, Kate, Meghan has also decided to break another tradition and not immediately walk outside with her newborn child to a swarm of photographers and journalists.

Meghan felt very strong about this particular aspect as she said it goes against everything she knew and wanted. Alternatively, Meghan and Harry decided when and where they made their first appearance with their son Archie, so they would both feel more comfortable with it.

One move too much

Between the vegan lifestyle, the very different birthing plan, and her overall “disregard for other royal protocol,” could Meghan be taking this too far? While some may think so, most think that she is a good thing for the monarchy, changing old ways that needed to be changed.

Adding new traditions to the old ones is welcomed by the British public, but it is the Royal family that needs to like it too, some do yet some are still very resistant.

Vegan benefits

There is a reason so many people have transitioned into a vegan diet. They say it is better for your heart, fighting certain illnesses and improves liver and kidney function.

There are those who use it to lose weight (although there are plenty of vegan options that are calorie dense), but mostly it is an attempt to go back to the way we used to eat that is far less processed. Meghan is all about clean and wholesome, and veganism is just that for her.
