Everything you need to know about Royal baby Archie

The world eagerly awaited the arrival of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s baby. The happy couple welcomed their baby boy into the world on May 6, and he weighed 7lbs 3oz. Meghan is rumored to have wanted to have the baby at home, however, was later moved to a Hospital in London, with Harry and her mother Doria by her side. The official announcement read, “The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news. The duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage.”

Place Of Birth

Unlike every other member in the Royal Family, Meghan Markle did not give birth at the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital. This was a decision that the married couple made following a breach in security when Kate Middleton gave birth there most recently.

Their family home, Frogmore Cottage, recently had a whopping £3 million spent on renovations and rumor has it, that Meghan’s dream was to give birth there with Harry, her mother and a midwife by her side. However, that didn’t happen.

To The Hospital

Meghan was later transferred to The Portland Hospital, where she stayed in a £20,000 maternity ward, where they help parents celebrate with a lobster celebration and rooms cost £2,000 a night. Other celebs such as Victoria Beckham have also given birth here.

Champagne as and when you want is also available as well as a four-poster cot for the baby. Some suggested that Meghan would give birth at Frimley Park Hospital, and Portland couldn’t be further away in terms of luxury. There is also a five-star nursery for the new mums and children and hotel suites for the families.

Announcement

When Harry attended a press call on May 6 2019 to announce the news, he was beaming with excitement and love. Everybody could see it that the Prince could barely stand still and ultimately looked like he wanted nothing more than to run back to his new family.

However, the announcement was far from traditional. The news of Meghan being in labor actually came after the baby had already been born. According to the official announcement, the baby was born at 5:26 am UK time, yet it wasn’t announced until 2 pm UK time.

What Harry Said

During the press call, Harry said the following, “It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension. But we’re both absolutely thrilled.”

“We’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everybody out there, it’s been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody.”

When Did They Introduce Him To The World?

The usual protocol for a Royal baby is that shortly after the birth, he or she will be presented to the world. In line with all the rules that the couple is happily breaking, this did not happen. Appearing on the stairs of the Lindo Wing is an iconic move for Royals, and both Princess Diana and Kate Middleton followed suit.

Harry said that the world will get to see baby, mum, and dad, together as one happy family two days after the birth. In that time, the family was bonding over at Frogmore Cottage with the help of Doria, Meghan’s mother. Updated: Prince Harry and Meghan presented the new Royal baby on May 8, at a press call outside of St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

What’s In A Name?

The name of the baby boy was widely speculated. The public wondered if the couple would opt for a traditional English and a rather Royal name, or if Meghan would put a more American twist on it? The couple didn’t share the name until May 8 and it was eagerly awaited.

Typically traditional names include Arthur, James or Edward. In 2010, when the Queen’s first great-grandchild was born, was blessed with the name Savannah, which her Canadian mother, Autumn Phillips chose. There is a big possibility that Meghan could go down this line as well with a male equivalent. Updated: An official announcement on May 8 shared the babies name with the world, and it is Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

Royal Line

Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s child will be the seventh in line to the throne, it is most likely that he will never become King and so this gives the couple some leg room. Prince William’s first born was named George, a very traditional name, but after all, one day he will be king.

A betting agency named Ladbrokes has been receiving many bets on what the baby will be called, with Albert being at the top of the list although, we are not too sure ourselves, perhaps it will be Louis? Which is 6th on the list.

Given Title

A question on everyone’s lips is, what title will the baby be given? The baby is said to be given the title of, Earl of Dumbarton. Unless the Queen intervenes, the child will not be known as a Prince. Months before the birth of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, the Queen went public with the announcement that they would be given such titles.

The title, Earl of Dumbarton will be inherited from Prince Harry as this is one of his ‘lesser’ titles. Dunbarton is a Scottish title, relating to a place close to the River Clyde in Glasgow.

Church Goers

Each member of the Royal Family is Christened, with each member attending church on a regular basis. Most Royal babies will be baptized at around three months old, which would mean it would be a summer Christening for the new baby boy.

The couple may Christen their son at either Chapel Royal at St James’ Palace or St George’s Chapel, where the couple wed in May 2018. As Royal tradition and one that Meghan won’t be able to break, the baby boy will wear something similar to what Queen Victoria’s daughter did in 1841.

Grandmother

As we know, sadly Prince Harry lost his mother Diana when he was younger. Her death devastated the world, and in a time like this, the world will once again feel for Harry.

Talking about what kind of grandparent Diana would have been, the Duchess of York said, “Diana would have just been the naughtiest, funniest and the best ever, just because she loved her boys so much. She would have been so proud of them and what they have achieved.”

The Christening

On July 6, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry celebrated in private the christening of their baby boy, Archie. Surrounded by their close friends and family only, the British public were quick to take offense.

Christened in Windsor, exactly two months to the day he was born, everyone is still wondering who Archie’s godparents are. Fans have been told little information about the day however can stare in awe at the official photos that have been released.

Nanny Position

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a range of staff that covers certain things, for example, they recently hired a former staff member of the Clinton’s, a lady named Sara Latham, who will handle their PR including their new social media pages.

The couple will also be hiring a nanny, and we can imagine it is no easy job trying to recruit someone to work in the Royal Family. There was talk that Connie Simpson, who was nanny to the Clooneys, may snatch the role however rumors say that it isn’t too easy to work for Meghan.

Third Nanny

To become a royal nanny, those wishing for the job have to undergo an extensive interview process that is a combination of what seems to be, everything and anything. From interviewing first with their own employer, they then have to complete a list of tasks to show that they can do exactly what their CV’s say ranging from taking a lifeguard course and self-defense and more.

All new mums are protective over their children however, that doesn’t really go hand in hand with hiring a nanny. Rumors are now saying that Meghan has just hired her third nanny after the previous two quit after finding it difficult to work for the new Royal.

First Time Father

Prince Harry will for sure be the doting father, and fans love to see how he reacts with children on his royal tours as well as his nieces and nephews.

Speaking at the Commonwealth Youth Roundtable he said, “As someone who is about to become a father, I am acutely aware of our shared responsibility to make this world more resilient and its inhabitants more accountable for the next generation.” We can’t wait to see him in action.

GodParent Tradition

Godparents are most common in the Royal Family and the chosen ones tend to be close friends rather than family members. Harry is rather close to his cousin, Princess Eugenie, although we have not seen to much interaction between her and Meghan Markle.

As tradition goes, there could be a list of godparents for the new baby boy.

The In-Laws

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married, they adopted the other parents (even if Meghan’s father has not played along). Meghan’s mum Doria was there by her daughter’s side while she gave birth and we are sure Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are full of excitement at meeting their new grandchild.

We wonder whether the birth will spur a reunion between Meghan and her father.

Travelling Family

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have become a brand in their own right, and since they will both have Royal duties to attend, their new baby boy could be joining them on a tour within the next year. Despite the royalty that he has been born into, we are sure he will live a life to be grateful for as he accompanies his parents on their charity tours.

When Prince Geroge was just seven months old, he accompanied William on a tour to both Australia and New Zealand.

Birthing Technique

Meghan is said to have been practicing different techniques prior to the birth of their new child. Concentrating on both breathing and relaxation techniques, these are what Meghan is said to have used to help sooth the pain.

Since she is rumored to have given birth at home, there is also the option that she opted for hypnobirthing.

Maternity Leave

Although Meghan is technically not employed, not that she is a Royal, she does have certain rules she has to abide by and they include working tours on behalf of the Royal family.

Her last official duty was on March 11 at the Commonwealth Day Service although she has still been working behind the scenes and liaising with her people “to catch up with those involved in her patronage-related endeavors.”

It’s All In A Name

The babies name has got to be one of the most anticipated moments so far in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s love story. With many wondering whether they will opt for a traditionally Royal name or whether they will go down more of a Markle route and go for something completely different.

Many thought that if it was a girl, Diana was a possibility but now we know the baby is a boy, what will he be called?

Paternity Leave

While we pay attention to maternity leave it is important that we also address Prince Harry’s paternity leave. In the UK the legal standards are that the father is allowed to take two full weeks of work which includes full payment. However as Harry is indeed a Prince, we don’t think these rules will matter so much.

Harry will have to check into the office and complete certain duties however he will certainly get leave from touring for now. Perhaps his next trip will be with his whole family.

First To Know

The Queen, by Royal tradition, will be told of the birth before anyone other than the parents, however, this is not quite the case here as Doria assisted Meghan with the birth. Her Majesty will be told and will have to sign off the say that the announcement can be made to the rest of the world.

For the Queen and her husband Prince Philip, this will be their eight great-grandchildren. As the Queen resides in Windsor Castle, we are sure it will bring her delight to have the new Royal addition so close to home.

Schooling

Prince Harry and his brother Prince William both attended Eton College. However, for the new Royal baby boy, this may differ. The happy couple has moved close to an American Community School which is situated in Egham, Surrey.

As we know, Meghan is keen not to forget where she is from, even if she is now a member of the Royal family and lives in England. The school offers its students the chance to go to a US high school and is just opposite Windsor Great Park.

Handmade Toys

When it comes to toys, it is a given that the new baby boy certainly will not be going without. A famous woodworker named Marc Stevenson has spoken out about his desire to create a Vintage rocking horse for the new Prince. The other horses that the designer has made have been so far worth up to £10,000, each piece is personally requested by the families who order them with every item being entirely unique and important to a relevant family event.

Marc said, “We’re very lucky that all our work is appreciated by royal families all over the world,.”

Social Media

Last month, the world was welcomed a little further into the life of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they introduced their new Instagram account. The page will be run by staff, but all content is directed by the married couple. In record-breaking time, the page managed to gain a following of over one million in just five short hours.

Of course, the news of their new arrival was announced on the site and the world will be eagerly awaiting the first uploaded image of their baby son. The photocall has been announced to be in two days time, so be sure to follow the account for all the latest information.

Who Weighed More?

The weight of the Royal family at birth has certainly differed. Prince Harry was a tiny 6lbs 14oz while Prince William was weighed at a little over 7lbs.

Harry and William’s father, Prince Charles weighed 7lbs 6z but it was Wiliam’s son Prince George, who set a Royal record when he weighed 8lbs 6oz. He was the heaviest Royal baby to be born in the last 100 years.

Dual Citizenship

As the baby is born to parents from different countries, he will be given dual citizenship and we can not wait for him to grow up and start traveling back and forth. We can just imagine it now, partying with the A-listers in American as his father once did, while enjoying a spot of lunch with his Royal family when in England.

After all, by the time he is old enough to do such things, it is more than likely that his Uncle William will be the king.
