Famous Athlete Tim Tebow Refuses Fan's Prom Request

Tim Tebow is renowned for being one of those famous athletes that go above and beyond when it comes to giving back to society. However, the world was totally shocked when a disabled girl asked him to prom, and he blatantly said no. Yet the turn of events following this unexpected situation had a surprising twist.

Charisma

Tim Tebow rose to fame after incredible college success, however, his NFL career didn’t follow the same pattern. Despite the brief length of his NFL career, Tebow maintained his status in the public eye, as being an extremely kind celebrity and role model for many, even though many thought that he would fail.

Major Change

Tebow left his mediocre football career behind him and found himself on ESPN, where he became an analyst on the SEC network.He never wanted to fully retire from the sports world. In 2016, he signed with the New York Mets minor league affiliate. Tim Tebow rose to the top as one of the few athletes with the ability and skill to be able to play both professional football and also baseball. To the haters, he had something else up his sleeve.

Recent History

He gained a promising promotion with the Mets team in Florida and hit a memorable five home runs. For him, success isn’t just on the field, he felt passionate about giving to charity and therefore has done a significant amount of charity work, including donating nearly $4 million to children’s hospitals through his foundation. His foundation has also hosted an annual prom for children with disabilities, and this is what caused such a stir with this story.

Night To Shine

Tim’s unique prom program grew and grew, and it was reaching over 375 events a year, and helping over 75,000 disabled teenagers. Judy Adams, an 18-year-old student sent a letter to Tim, her hero, asking him to escort her to her prom. Tim, however, could not attend that night, but that event stayed in his mind and was the inspiration for a new idea.

Scheming

After the prom that he wasn’t able to attend, Tebow contacted Judy’s mother to tell her his exciting idea. He was due to start promoting his new book, “Know Who You Are. Live Like It Matters.” One of his stops on his book tour was The Tonight Show, which was the perfect place for his plan.

The Big Night

Judy’s mom announced to her that she had won tickets to the show, but didn’t tell her how she got the tickets, Judy jumped for joy but never imagined in her wildest dreams who she was going to see there…

When the time came, Judy was so excited to see Jimmy Fallon and didn’t even notice at first the sign that said who the main star was attending. She had no idea what was in store for her….

A Date

When it was time for the interview Fallon mentioned the prom program Night To Shine,  and Tebow casually replied how he never been asked to prom or had a date. Jimmy Fallon then grabbed a corsage from under his desk, to give to Tim. Tim then took the corsage and turned to the audience…

What Next?

Tebow started to tell the audience the story of Judy’s letter. He remarked at how incredible and inspirational she was, and that he was so sorry for not taking her to Prom. He then went on to say that he invited them both here today for a special reason.…

A Big Question

The camera then zoomed in on Judy, who was the epitome of an overjoyed fan, reaching the height of excitement. Tebow then spoke softly and asked a simple question with a beaming smile on his face. “Judy Adams, I was wondering if maybe I could have a dance?” he asked.

Shock And Awe

Judy was clearly in shock, but she managed to rush down to the stage as the audience cheered her on. Her hero gave her a massive hug and asked her if she was surprised. “Yes!” she yelled as she tried to contain her joy.

Tears

As the lights started to dim down, and The Roots began to play, Judy’s mother started to cry happy tears. The two danced together for a few moments all around the main floor of the show with the audience cheering them on. It was definitely the highlight of the young fan’s life so far. However, the surprises were just getting started…

More Surprises

After the show, Tebow took his young fan to meet the one and only Kerry Washington, who was the other visiting guest on the show that night. To top all of that, the athlete even sent a copy of “Shaken,” his other book, to Adams in the mail. But there was still more to come.

An Inspirational Message

Tebow had an inspirational message that was really important for him to deliver. He said, “I want people to know how much they matter, and how important they are. Yeah, we’re gonna get knocked down, but your identity can be bigger than just your circumstances.” Tebow really outdid himself, but this wasn’t even the best bit.

Role Model

Tebow was asked about whether his off-the-field activities – including his numerous charity activities – would hurt his ability to be successful on the field? He replied: “Not at all. I find all of those things help me so much more in playing sports, in playing baseball than I could possibly imagine because what we do with the Night to Shine and the worldwide prom for people with special needs, and seeing lives being changed in 11 countries, and really all around the world. When you are able to celebrate them and let them know they are special and someone realizes for the first time that they are loved and walk down a red carpet, that can be life changing.” We love him even more now.

The Hero

On August 10th 2017, Tebow was in the on-deck circle, preparing to bat against the Charlotte Stone Crabs. A young autistic fan ran down to meet his hero and received a handshake from him through the netting. The boy was overjoyed, but the moment was about to get even more magical…

A Miracle

Tebow shook hands with his elated fan, and then confidently strode to the plate. He saw his pitch and drilled a three-run homer over the outfield wall. The crowd then jumped to their feet and cheered as Tebow rounded the bases.

Foundation

Tim started The Tebow Foundation because he felt passionate about wanting to make a difference in the world. Part of that mission included hospital building. Luckily for Jocy and her family, Tebow’s  hospital was being built close to where they lived. However, it would be three years until it was completed.

The Cure

The family’s low hopes were finally lifted when they were informed that the CURE hospital would start seeing patients. Jocy was immediately admitted and underwent intensive burn repair surgery. Her life was changed…

Recovery

Even after waiting for three years, Jocy has made a full recovery. She is now able to fully use her arms and shoulders, and she is now able to draw and ride a bike. Things that her previous doctors said she would never be able to do.

What The Future Holds

In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Tebow opened up about one his biggest desire, “I want to adopt so badly,“ he says. “I can’t wait. It’s definitely something I see in my future.”

Life Changer

Tebow has since saved the lives of hundreds of children in the Philippines through his hospital and foundation and pledges to carry on giving and doing all he can to help those in need. Who knows, maybe he will adopt a baby from the place that means so much to him.
